LETTERS WRITTEN TO POLITICAL PARTIES

Dear Shri__________,

Mumbai Election Watch represents a partnership of citizen groups whose memberships total some two lakh voters. This number is significant overall and particularly so in some constituencies of Mumbai city. They could influence the results in any general elections in our highly fragmented polity.

We have come together to place before you a Citizen Charter listing what we want from (political) parties and their candidates in the new Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, in terms of quality of life, safety/security and citizen-MLA dialogue to Mumbai city.

Party manifestos must reflect citizen problems, needs and aspirations and not indulge in populism or divisive politics. It is in this hope that we offer you the enclosed Citizens Charter for inclusion of our demands in your Party’s manifestos for the coming Assembly elections. It could make a decisive difference to the way we vote.

Kind Regards,

Yours Sincerely,

D.M. Sukthankar
