"MEET YOUR CANDIDATE" EVENTS
As a part of its ElectionWatch, AGNI JAAGs arranged 9 Meet Your Candidates events between 3rd & 10th October at Opera House, Malabar Hill, Kherwadi, Vile Parle, Amboli, Santacruz, Andheri, Trombay & Chembur.

These well-attended events gave citizens an opportunity of interacting with their candidates before voting. They were provided with copies of the AGNI Citizen Charter designed on issues for MLAs to address. Candidates accepted the Charter and promised action if elected.

A summary analysis of candidate affidavits revealing their backgrounds was prepared and distributed to help citizens make an informed choice on voting day.

Candidates talked about their plans for their constituencies and satisfactorily answered questions of citizens. They promised to consult citizens regularly and work together to sort out problems.


"YATRAS"
As a part of the ElectionWatch campaign, AGNI conducted 17 awareness "Yatras" between 2nd & 10th October 2004. They were organized in the Assembly Constituencies of Colaba, Mumbadevi, Khetwadi, Opera House, Malabar Hill, Chinchpokli, Nagpada, Mazagaon, Parel, Sewri, Naigaon, Dadar, Mahim, Bandra, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali and Borivali.

Fleets of vehicles exhorting people to vote made frequent halts to perform skits highlighting the importance of voting. Copies of a Citizens' Charter outlining needs of citizens and an analysis of Candidates' Affidavits revealing their backgrounds (educational, criminal & financial) were widely distributed to help citizens make an informed choice on voting day.

The various Yatras all over the city culminated in an attractive main central Yatra on 10th October from Azad Maidan to Mahim.

The response of citizens was very enthusiastic and AGNI's initiative to reach the common man in this way was highly appreciated.
